It was more like "like at first sight." Love happened a few months later. :)
I was giving a speech in front of a small audience of about 20 people.
She was in the front row. And she caught my attention. And I caught hers.
A day to remember.
Of course, I didn't propose there after the speech. Neither we exchanged numbers. No way! I am too smart for that, you know?
In fact, a few months later she managed to get my phone number from somewhere and called me.
"Hey" I said!
Slowly we became friends. It took us a few months before we got together as a couple. Yes, she chased me a bit, but I did the proposing. And darn she said yes! Luckiest man I am.
It's been 9 years we are together.
And this has a valuable public speaking & life lesson for you.
As a leader if you want to get the TRUST of your audience, then you MUST make a powerful first impression.
First impressions last!
If Anupama and my first impressions were not good for one another, then I'd not have her today.
I didn't TRY to make any great first impression. Neither did she.
But we made great impressions, naturally.
1. By being ourselves authentically.
2. By being confident.
3. By having great communication.
Same with YOU.
